Unlike other applications, ShutterBug does not use technology that was ported from another platform and modified to work on the Mac OS X platform.  ShutterBug has been built specifically for OS X users from the ground up.  It focuses on optimizing your online photo albums inside of all browsers, on both platforms. There is no need to worry about it rendering properly on IE for Windows, because we've already taken those steps to ensure compatibility. So let us do the worrying for you so you can focus on your content.

ShutterBug takes a refreshing approach to digital photo album creation.  How you display your photos online, whether it is professional or personal, the presentation is important for many reasons: aesthetics, easy to view, easy to navigate, cross-platform browser compatibility, and easy for the viewer to download (even on dial-up).  The result is a practical delivery of your photos that is not only easy for the viewer to browse, but also easy for you to create. 

The same basic philosophies of utility, speed, and ease of use, that you experience with ImageWell, are also at the core of ShutterBug.  These lean philosophies drive the design and architecture of ShutterBug’s core role in being a flexible and cooperative task master.  It will mask the complexities and do the tedious, and perhaps boring, tasks for you, allowing you to focus on your content and making it look the way you want it to.  It will save you time and a lot of headaches that tend to arise with comparative products.

• Intelligent Task Master: ShutterBug is a Task Master.  You can tell it to do something, such as import large folders of pictures, and move on to do other things like write the content for the page, or design the look, while ShutterBug performs the other actions in the background.  You don’t have to wait for it before moving on to the next task. 

• Multitask without Opening Multiple Programs:  You don't require multiple programs to complete the task.  ShutterBug has everything you need all wrapped into one nice compact package. No need for external editing programs, edit your photos inside of ShutterBug using the popular ImageWell editing tools. You don't have to be controlled by someone's else's idea of elegance or style. Create your very own look and feel using the powerful WYSIWYG layout editor, or use a pre-packed template.  Review your site and test your links inside the built-in Safari browser.  You do need web host space in order to have a place to upload your site to.    

• What You See Is What You Really Get: Using the WYSIWYG editors inside of ShutterBug, you have the freedom and control to create and design like a pro.  What you make is your own idea and your own concept that you can be proud of.  The built-in web preview displays your site exactly as it would appear on the web, as well as allows you to test your links, including external hyperlinks.  These features will save you time and hassle from messing around with exact pixel placement of page headings, navigation, and other content.   When you place an object somewhere on the page, it is exactly where it will appear in a web broswer.  

• Freedom, Control & Simplicity:  You don’t need to know even one ounce of HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, or how to make websites render properly in all browsers on OS X and Windows.  You do not need to know how to use any graphics programs in order to make a beautifully styled website.  You are also not limited to the pre-made templates that come packaged with the application. • Share, Organize and Manage Layouts:  ShutterBug doesn’t just let you share your photos and stories quickly and easily, it also allows you to easily manage, store, and share templates with other ShutterBug users.  See a template you like, simply import it into your template library and apply it to your photo album. You can arrange and categorize templates by theme or any other name you would like to give them.  You can export theme packs to share with others, import other creations, and organize them in the manner you want.  The possibilities with your template library are endless.
