Chapter 1. Introduction
───────────────────────────────────────
How to Use this Manual
This manual is designed to take you through each window of ShutterBug, step by step,
starting with initial user settings and getting started, to building content, exporting your
site, designing your own look, and managing themes in your ShutterBug library. There
are eleven chapters divided into two fundamental sections - Content and Layout. The
first page of each chapter provides an overview of the subject content covered within
the corresponding chapter. Wherever possible, labeled diagrams accompany the
written instructions for added help and explanation.
The navigation menu to the left shows the chapter headings. When you go to a
chapter, the navigation will collapse to show the sections of that chapter only. You can
get back to the main navigation by clicking on the Chapter heading in the menu. You
can also navigate through the manual by using the Next, Previous, & Main Index page
links located at the bottom of each page. We recommend reading through all of the
pages in Chapter 1 first, before moving on to the chapters that follow.
If you already know the specific topic or feature which you are looking for, you may
want to go straight to the last section entitled, Quick Reference Index. This index
alphabetically lists the main features of ShutterBug with a link to jump to each topic
quickly. Supplement 1 provides a printable keyboard shortcut table for reference.
Chapters 1-5
Chapters one through five help get you acquainted with ShutterBug's specifications
and user interface, and cover User Preferences, the Content Window, Preview &
Export Windows. These chapters address the primary functionality and features of
ShutterBug, helping you get started to easily build your content (text & photos),
including links, captions, watermarks, password protection, how to organize your site
files and pages, and quickly export your site off to the web.
Chapters 6-11
Chapters six through eleven contain the foundation for the layout and design of your
website, including using the templates and themes to customize your site. These
chapters show you how to use the layout tools to modify and create your own themes,
how to add "Xtras" such as media files, forms, thumbnail rollovers, etc., how to
customize pages using templates, and how to manage templates. The last three
chapters help you get acquainted with the theme library, how to use the theme library
features, how to add a PayPal shopping cart to your website, and provide an overview
of the advanced HTML window for adding META tags and additional HTML.
